Witnesses Sought In Serious Route 524 Motorcycle Crash In Howell

A Freehold man remains in critical condition following the crash that happened Jan. 1.

HOWELL, NJ -- A Freehold man remains in critical condition from injuries he suffered in a New Year's Day crash on Route 524 where a motorcycle was hit by a car, and police are hoping witnesses will come forward in the crash.

Police said the motorcyclist, a 59-year-old man, was riding a 2016 Triumph Tiger 800 motorcycle on Route 524 near Howell Road when he was hit from behind by a red 2016 Honda Civic driven by a 33-year-old Lakewood man.

The motorcyclist remains hospitalized at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

Police said the investigation revealed numerous witnesses may have seen the two vehicles leading up to the crash or may have see the crash itself and they are urging anyone who saw it to contact police.

Howell police, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis and Response Team are investigating.
