Car Plunges Off 195 Overpass, Lands On Route 9 Injuring Driver, Police Say

HOWELL, NJ — An Ocean County woman was injured Tuesday when her SUV ran off Interstate 195 and ended up in the middle of Route 9, New Jersey State Police said.

Ava S. Adamo, 21, of Berkeley Township, suffered serious injuries in the crash that happened at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday, Trooper Christopher Postorino said.

Adamo was driving east on I-195 when she lost control of the Hyundai SUV and ran off the right side of the road and hit a snow bank and a concrete barrier before landing in the northbound lanes of Route 9 below the overpass, Postorino said.

Adamo was taken to an area hospital, he said.

The crash remains under investigation.
