Youth Sports Facility 'Amazing Athletes' Opens In Howell
Amazing Athletes in Howell, which offers enrichment programs for children 2 to 10 years old, celebrated its grand opening April 12.

HOWELL, NJ - Childrens' multi-sport program franchise Amazing Athletes has hardly slowed down during the coronavirus pandemic. Its latest New Jersey location, Amazing Athletes of Central Jersey, will begin offering youth sports enrichment programs and training to children of Howell and beyond starting this month.
The Howell facility provides 3,200-square feet of activity spaces for children to participate in multi-sport training and specialty camps, as well as nutrition and muscle group education. The new business located in the West Farms Plaza on Route 9 North celebrated its grand opening on April 12 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Howell Township Mayor Theresa Berger and members of the township council were in attendance, as well as Amazing Athletes franchise owners Vincent and Rose Scuorzo.
New York-based Amazing Athletes, touted as the nation’s largest franchise youth sports enrichment program, has expanded their franchise base during the pandemic with new locations as well as offering virtual classes, mobile programming, new activities and private camps.

“During this time of hybrid learning, Zoom video calls, and social distancing, kids have not received enough physical education,” Vincent Scuorzo said in a statement. “We’re looking to fill that void. Our goal is to get kids moving, providing fun and engaging activity supplements, much the same as they are currently getting tutoring and educational supplements, from coaches and trainers who know how to connect with kids.”

Amazing Athletes uses a multi-sport program to benefit children through physical, mental, social and emotional health exercises, according to a news release, introducing the fundamentals of 10 different sports (soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, track and field, baseball and golf) in a non-competitive environment. Amazing Athletes participants learn confidence building skills, combine fitness with fun, and develop key motor skills.

Programs to be offered at the Howell Township Amazing Athletes Sports Training Facility include multi-sport coaching and instruction, Super Soccer Stars programs, one-on-one and private group training, clinics, and camp programs such as the popular three-hour “Parents Night Out” program.
Vincent Scuorzo told Patch that the Howell location has been in the works for quite some time, as he and his wife have taught in preschools and home school groups through Amazing Athletes. Last October, the husband-and-wife team rented space in Freehold, Jackson and Old Bridge to offer youth sports enrichment programs, which were immediately met with success.
To Scuorzo, the opening of the sports facility is a deeply personal achievement.
"I had three open heart surgeries growing up, so I was always limited to contact sports," said Scuorzo, who was born and raised in Howell. "I played baseball, but in high school, sports were just too much of a risk. The main reason why I do this is not only to benefit kids in a positive way, but also to show that, no matter what their condition, what kind of athlete they are, there is a place for kids of all abilities."
