JEFFERSON, NJ — Lake Hopatcong will celebrate the nation's 250th birthday in style on Saturday, July 11, with a waterfront celebration featuring a boat parade, an all-fleet sail, and a paddler flotilla open to kayakers, canoeists, and paddleboarders.
The festivities kick off with a boat parade at 11 a.m. in front of Nolan's Point. Participating boats should gather in Great Cove by 10:45 a.m.
At 11:30 a.m., an all-fleet sail will run from Bertrand Island to Halsey Island. All sailing vessels are welcome — sailors should gather in front of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club by 11:15 a.m.
A paddler flotilla for kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards will follow at noon. Paddlers should gather on the north side of Lakeshore Village condos, just past the yacht club.
