JEFFERSON, NJ — The Jefferson Town Council recently passed an ordinance that would allow for additional billboards on Route 15 and Route 23.
The ordinance also establishes regulations for the use and placement of future billboard signs.
"It is the Township’s goal to promote responsible visibility for the small businesses while preserving the integrity of the Township’s existing character,” the ordinance reads.
It would permit a total of four additional signs on Route 15, with two on the northbound side and two on the southbound side, and a total of four on Route 23 with two on the northbound side and two on the southbound side, according to town planner Jessica Caldwell.
In addition, dimensions of the billboards will not exceed 384 square feet with a height restriction of 40 feet from ground level to the tallest point of the billboard.
