Busy Highway's Closure To Impact Morris County Drivers Next Week: Officials

Paving work will close the northbound side of the highway for eight hours, with alternating traffic planned.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Drivers traveling through Jefferson Township could face delays Wednesday as paving work shuts down one direction of Route 181 for much of the day.

Route 181 northbound will be closed between Route 15 and Prospect Point Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

During the closure, alternating traffic will be directed through the area using the southbound side of Route 181.

Crews are scheduled to mill and pave the roadway as part of the completion of a New Jersey Natural Gas project, officials said.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect possible delays, slow down, and use caution around crews and equipment.

The schedule could change because of weather or other factors.
