Jefferson Township is offering free rabies vaccinations for dogs ahead of the 2027 licensing year. Here's what to know.

| Updated

JEFFERSON, NJ — Dog parents can get their pets vaccinated against rabies for free at an upcoming Jefferson Township clinic.

According to a township announcement, the clinic will take place Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jefferson Township Municipal Pound, 57 Minnisink Road in Lake Hopatcong.

The clinic is free and open to all New Jersey residents.

All animals must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and dogs must be restrained with a leash or tether.

The township also reminds pet parents that dog licenses cannot be renewed for 2027 if their pets' rabies vaccinations expire before Nov. 1, 2027.

The clinic offers an opportunity to address that requirement before the next licensing year.
