1 Dead, Several Hospitalized In 4-Alarm Fire In Jersey City: Officials

"Our hearts are broken for the family," said the mayor of the North Jersey city.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — One person has died and at least three were injured when a four-alarm fire raced through a Jersey City home on Thursday night, officials said.

Mayor James Solomon said that the fire on Boyd Avenue, on the city's West Side, was brought under control by 7 p.m. Thursday.

"Tragically, one person has perished," he said in a statement. "Our hearts are broken for the family and the city is prepared to help them with resources however we can."

He said the injured victims have been brought to Jersey City Medical Center.

News 12 reported that the person who died was a woman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
