3 Boys – Including 14-Year-Old – Busted In NJ Teen's Murder: HCPO

A 16-year-old was charged with murder in the restaurant killing. The other two were charged as accomplices to murder, prosecutors said.

Three boys have been arrested in connection with the recent shooting death of a New Jersey teen at a restaurant, according to prosecutors.

The three boys from Jersey City were recently arrested without incident and charged in connection with the murder of Judane Holmes, 16, of Jersey City, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

Holmes was shot by a masked gunman at US Chicken in Jersey City, authorities said. He was shot next to an ATM in the restaurant.

The first arrest happened on Friday, shortly after 12:30 p.m., when a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody in the area of Sawmill Road in Alloway Township. Then, at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, a 14-year-old boy was arrested in the area of Virginia Avenue in Jersey City. Both were charged as accomplices to murder, according to the HCPO.

On Monday, a 16-year-old male was arrested in Jersey City and charged with murder.

The fatal shooting happened on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at approximately 3:25 p.m., when the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 209 Bidwell Avenue in Jersey City, according to the HCPO.

Responding Jersey City Police Officers found Holmes at that location with gunshot
wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:35 p.m., according to the HCPO.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the cause of death to be gunshot
wounds and the death to be a homicide.
