1. Hearing On Jersey City Hospital Closure Is Canceled After Judge Gives Order: What's Next? (patch.com) — A state hearing on the controversial closure of Heights University Hospital in Jersey City was abruptly canceled after the owners withdrew their application and obtained a court order, even though the hospital shut three weeks ago. City officials and activists say the closure has strained Jersey City Medical Center’s ER and are exploring options, including eminent domain, to keep the Palisade Avenue site focused on health care.    

2. James M. Leavy Appointed Jersey City Director of Public Works (tapinto.net) — Jersey City has hired veteran New York City sanitation leader James M. Leavy as its new Director of Public Works, starting April 20. He’ll oversee sanitation, street maintenance, recycling, and more while helping Mayor James Solomon modernize storm response and everyday services across all neighborhoods.

Art House Productions Will Present 8th Annual INKUBATOR NEW PLAY FESTIVAL in Jersey City (broadwayworld.com) — A free new play festival is coming to Jersey City this May as Art House Productions presents its 8th Annual INKubator New Play Festival on May 4–6 and 11–13. Local audiences can reserve seats for staged readings of six brand-new plays, followed by conversations with the writers, directors, and actors who developed them over a yearlong residency.

Contestant Continues Record Breaking Run (dailyvoice.com) — A record‑setting New Jersey “Jeopardy!” champion with 25 straight wins once worked for the City of Jersey City and now serves at the state’s Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. His streak, worth $702,000 so far, ranks fifth all‑time and has drawn cheers from across the Garden State as he continues dominating opponents and breaking quiz‑show records.
