2 Men Charged With Attempted Murder In Separate Jersey City Shootings

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Two men have been charged in connection with different shooting incidents in Jersey City this month, officials said Thursday.

On April 9, a man was found with gunshot wounds near Pavonia and West Side Avenues, said Jersey City public safety spokeswoman Kim Wallace-Scalcione.

Isaac Ross, 43, was arrested on April 15 by members of the Cease Fire Unit and Criminal Warrant Squad, working in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Wallace-Scalcione said. 

Ross was charged with attempted murder and other offenses, she said.  

On April 14, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Clendenny and Bergen avenues, Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.

 With assistance from the JCPD Cease Fire Unit, officers identified Tysaan Menter, 18, as being involved.

He was charged with attempted murder, Wallace-Scalcione said.

No one was injured in the shooting, she said.

The loaded gun was later found by police, Wallace-Scalcione said. It was determined to be stolen.

Metner also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a handgun.

Officials did not elaborate on other details of either shooting.

“These arrests reflect exactly the kind of policing our residents expect and deserve,” said Mayor James Solomon.  “In both cases, Jersey City police officers moved quickly, used intelligence and coordination across units, and took dangerous individuals off our streets before more harm could be done.”

“This is outstanding police work across the board, and exactly how we are driving violence down in this city,” said Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.  “This is how we protect our communities and hold violent offenders accountable.”
