Six-Story Building Approved for 792 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey (newyorkyimby.com) — A new six-story residential building with 38 apartments, including four affordable units, has been approved for 792 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood. The project will add ground-floor retail space near Lincoln Park and sits by bus routes into downtown Jersey City, though a construction start date has not yet been announced.    

2. 2026 - The Jersey City Summit for RE, Economic Development & Innovation (businessdailynetwork.com) — A major real estate and economic development summit is coming to Harborside 1 on Jersey City’s waterfront on Thursday, June 4, 2026, drawing more than 1,250 industry leaders. Attendees will hear about transformative local projects, creative financing, and capital markets forecasts, all focused on Jersey City and broader Tri-State growth.    

3. N.J. losing 2,300 jobs as layoff filings surged in April (nj.com subscription) — Nearly 1,000 jobs are at risk at Bayonne University Hospital, just weeks after its owner shut down the standalone emergency room at Heights University Hospital in Jersey City due to heavy financial losses. The article details a surge of WARN notices across New Jersey, with major employers planning thousands of layoffs through the rest of 2026.    

4. BYU football picks up a commitment from New Jersey cornerback (ksl.com) — A Jersey City high school cornerback, Ryan Wooten of St. Peter’s Prep, has committed to play football at BYU for the class of 2027. His decision puts a local athlete on a national stage and highlights New Jersey’s growing role in the Utah program’s recruiting plans.
