Man Charged In Crash On Jersey City Highway: Prosecutor (patch.com) — A Hackensack driver has been charged in connection with a high‑speed crash on Routes 1&9 in Jersey City that seriously injured him and his passenger and hurt another motorist. Jersey City police and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office say the January 2025 collision involved two heavily damaged cars on the southbound side between Duncan and Communipaw avenues. The defendant was arrested and released pending his first court appearance.
2. Boulevard Drinks, 79-Year-Old Jersey City Restaurant, May Be Forced Out By Developers (patch.com) — A beloved Jersey City staple, Boulevard Drinks in Journal Square, says it may be forced to close or relocate after nearly 90 years serving local residents. As development pressures mount around the PATH hub, Mayor James Solomon and Councilman Tom Zuppa say they’re working to keep the hot dog spot in the neighborhood and protect longtime Jersey City businesses.
3. Meet Coco: The sidewalk robot taking over Jersey City deliveries (wchram.com) — A fleet of Coco delivery robots is now rolling through Jersey City Heights, bringing food and groceries from about 50 local businesses straight to residents’ doors via Uber Eats. The zero-emission robots aim to cut traffic, lower delivery costs, and keep running even in bad weather, with plans to expand across more Jersey City neighborhoods and North Jersey soon.
4. Murder Suspect Arrested In Hoboken Hours After Jersey City Stabbing: Officials (patch.com) — A man was fatally stabbed on Dwight Street in Jersey City Sunday afternoon, and a relative has been charged with his murder, according to prosecutors. The victim was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, and the suspect was later arrested in Hoboken on murder and weapons charges. Authorities say the case is being investigated as domestic violence.
5. New Jersey City University union establishes $25,000 scholarship fund with the NJCU Foundation (roi-nj.com) — Students at New Jersey City University’s Jersey City campus could soon benefit from a new $25,000 scholarship fund created by the campus faculty and staff union. The award will support students with financial need, solid academics, and a record of community service, and ties into NJCU’s upcoming centennial campaign and merger with Kean University.
