JERSEY CITY, NJ — An Elizabeth man who was struck by a car in Jersey City on Friday died the next day, officials said.
The victim was identified Wednesday as James Jones, 87, of Elizabeth.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. on Friday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck on Pacific Avenue near Forrest Street, said the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Jones was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, prosecutors said.
He was pronounced dead just after 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, prosecutors said.
The striking vehicle remained at the scene, and no charges were filed as of Wednesday.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is still investigating, prosecutors said.
