Shortly after 9:30 p.m., police responded to 36 Journal Square on a report of a car theft involving firearms, said public safety spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.
The driver and passenger of a 2018 BMW 330 told police that they had been parked nearby, at 64 Sip Ave., when five men approached and demanded that they leave the car.
The victims said two of the men brandished guns. They got into the car and left.
Within two hours, police found the car in Newark.
