HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks will be seen over the Hudson River this year — as well as in two other locations — in honor of the 50th anniversary of the display and the nation's 250th birthday.
The fireworks will illuminate the Brooklyn Bridge, the lower East River, and the lower Hudson River, the chain announced on Friday. The Hudson River display will be in collaboration with the city of Jersey City, which in past years held its own display and events.
"The nation’s largest 4th of July celebration will ignite the skies of New York and New Jersey with a kaleidoscope of color and sound," Macy's said Friday. "The landmark show celebrates 50 years of patriotic spectacle for Macy’s and marks the nation’s 250th birthday."
For those who can't watch from the waterfront, viewers nationwide can tune in on NBC and Peacock from 8-10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time, and 7 to 9 p.m. Central and Mountain Time. An encore presentation will air at 10 p.m. A Spanish language simulcast will air on Telemundo at 8 p.m.
“As a brand synonymous with celebration, entertainment and culture, Macy’s brings generations of customers and communities together through both big and small moments,” said Sharon Otterman, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “The tradition of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks creates connection through artistry, music and awe-inspiring displays."
Details on outdoor viewing and performers will be announced in coming weeks, Macy's said. Visit macys.com/fireworks for more.
