For four years, 65-year-old Melissa Broder of Hoboken suffered from recurring, debilitating nerve-like pain in her right arm, which was diagnosed as tendonitis. The pain kept her from fully participating in her passions for gardening and acting. After treatments like cortisone shots and physical therapy failed to provide a permanent solution, she was referred to orthopedic surgeon Siddhant Mehta, M.D., who then connected her with his colleague, Ferheen Shamim, M.D.

Dr. Shamim performed an ultrasound, confirming a partial tear and dead tissue in Melissa's elbow tendon from overuse. She recommended Tenex, a minimally invasive procedure, as an alternative to traditional surgery.

One week later, at Palisades Medical Center, Dr. Shamim performed the 10-minute Tenex procedure. Using ultrasound guidance, she made a tiny incision to remove the damaged tissue without harming healthy surrounding tissue, which helps reduce irritation and stimulate healing. Melissa experienced minimal discomfort and a rapid recovery.

Now pain-free, Melissa has returned to gardening and acting in physically demanding roles, activities she had to limit before the procedure. She praises Dr. Shamim's clear communication and expertise, calling the solution to her chronic problem "truly life-changing."
