HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — As towers rise in Jersey City's "SoHo West" neighborhood south of the Hoboken border, new businesses are moving in as well.
Among them, the first Northeast location of a quick-drop doggie day care concept will arrive in fall.
"Dogdrop" is a pet care chain that lets members bring their pets without an appointment to any location across the country.
The company recently signed a lease to open in the Hudson House Collection later this year.
Hudson House is an 829-unit residential and retail complex including three buildings.
Dogdrop is "reimagining dog daycare for a new generation of dog parents who want a better-quality alternative that fits their lifestyle," a release said.
Founded in Los Angeles, the brand's membership model doesn't require an appointment, so dog parents pay only for the time they use, from a single hour between meetings to a full day of play.
Membership includes access to any location across the country. There are currently six locations in other states.
"Rather than supervising large groups of dogs in warehouse style facilities, Dogdrop's smaller-format, open-pla locations pair highly trained staff with structured daily enrichment, so dogs get the right mental and physical stimulation whether they stay an hour or the whole day," a release said.
"At Hudson House, we're curating a compementary mix of retailers that enhances everyday life for our residents while contributing to the continued evolution of the SoHo West neighborhood," said Whitney Arcaro, the chief revenue officer at RXR, which owns Hudson House with partners Columbia Property Trust, Strategic Value Partners, LLC, and One Investment Management.
Dogdrop picked Hudson House because of its location within one of Jersey City's fastest-growing mixed-use neighborhoods, a spokesperson said.
"The company's urban model is centered on communities where most members arrive on foot," said a release.
The neighborhood is within walking distance of the Hoboken Train Terminal and less than a mile from the Jersey City waterfront and Newport PATH station.
Hudson House is located at 15th and Coles streets.
