JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in a Jersey City apartment building Tuesday night.
Jalil Harley has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Omar Smith, 38.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, police responded around 8 p.m. on Tuesday to an apartment at 200 Cornelison St., in the McGinley Square neighborhood.
Smith was pronounced dead on the scene, and had a bullet wound, officials said.
Harley was arrested Thursday at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office on the murder charge, as well as weapons charges. He was taken to the Hudson County jail.
The death marked the seventh homicide in the city so far this year. (A separate killing on Wednesday is being investigated as well, officials said.)
