Bayonne Man Charged In Jersey City Hit-And-Run (patch.com) β A Bayonne driver has been charged in a Jersey City hit-and-run that seriously injured a 31-year-old pedestrian near Ocean and Winfield avenues over the July 4 weekend. Prosecutors say the 27-year-old suspect, identified as the Kia Soul driver, surrendered at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office and now faces multiple charges while released pending his first court appearance.

Oasis Health Expo 2026 Jersey City (hudsonreporter.com) β Hudson Mall in Jersey City will host the free Oasis Health Expo on August 22β23, offering screenings, wellness workshops, kids' activities, and expert panels on everything from diabetes to mental health. Residents can drop in for yoga, financial literacy info, and on-site health services while connecting with local providers and community organizations.

Hudson County to start improvement work along JFK Boulevard in Jersey City (nj.com subscription) β Hudson County is about to start an 18βmonth improvement project on JFK Boulevard and nearby Bergen Avenue in Jersey City, bringing new sidewalks, ADA ramps, traffic signals, trees, and fresh pavement. Work from Sip to Pavonia and along Bergen will roll out in phases, so expect changing traffic patterns, construction zones, and the need for extra travel time along these busy corridors.

Jersey City Council members upset that DCA will only review 1 budget amendment (hudsoncountyview.com) β Jersey City council members are clashing with state officials after the Department of Community Affairs said it will only review a single, combined budget amendment, complicating efforts to tweak the city's spending plan. Finance staff say the changes, including shifting health costs under the cap and restoring some positions, still point to a roughly 15.5% municipal tax increase that residents will feel.

High Tech cracks top 20 in U.S. News N.J. high school rankings, County Prep at 61 (hudsoncountyview.com) β County Prep High School in Jersey City has been ranked 61st in New Jersey by U.S. News & World Report, while neighboring High Tech High in Secaucus cracked the top 20. District leaders say the strong statewide and national showings reflect rigorous standards and daily work by teachers and students in the Hudson County Schools of Technology.
