Food Network Star Will Open Restaurant In Downtown Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Food Network star is helping bring a new Korean restaurant to downtown Jersey City.

Chef and cookbook author Esther Choi and restaurateur Bobby Kwak (who runs Baekjeong and the Michelin-rated Noksu in Manhattan) will open Dubu Hana at 8 Erie St. in fall.

A spokesperson for Dubu Hana said the "Seoul-ful Korean cooking" will debut in late October or early November. Jessica Lee-An will serve as a chef at the establishment.

The menu features jip-bap — the "wholesome cooking typically found in a Korean home," a restaurant spokesperson said. "The kitchen takes familiar, comforting traditions and elevates them with Chef Esther's personal perspective, and Chef Jessica's touch blending those authentic, rustic Korean flavors with modern culinary techniques."

The restaurant will also partner with Pulmuone, one of South Korea's most respected food purveyors, known for its leadership in wholesome foods, tofu, noodles, dumplings, kimchi, prepared meals, and other Korean and Asian food products, the spokesperson said. Choi is a spokesperson for the company.

The new spot will be within walking distance of the Grove Street PATH station and waterfront.
