HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Police are looking for a man who stole a sailboat from a Jersey City marina on Saturday night, they said.
State police say the man swiped the 40-foot boat around 11 p.m. on Saturday from the Liberty Landing Marina.
Troopers from the Marine Services Bureau's Carteret Station responded to a report about the stolen 1968 Hinckley Bermuda, sail number 4066, they said.
Police said the suspect, captured on video surveillance, is a white male in a black hat, black hooded sweatshirt, and black shorts.
But "at some point during the theft, the suspect possibly changed his clothing to a blue hat and tan hooded sweatshirt," police say.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Jersey State Police Carteret Station at 732-541-0491. Anonymous tips are welcome, police said.
The Liberty Landing Marina, on the Morris Canal, is located less than a half mile from the Statue of Liberty.
