Attempted Murder Charges For 5 Teens From Jersey City And Bayonne: Police

BAYONNE, NJ — Five teens from Jersey City and Bayonne were charged with attempted murder on Wednesday after a sixth teen wound up in a local Emergency Room with a bullet wound, police in Bayonne said.

The sixth teen was charged with aggravated assault, police said.

Police said that around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, police in Bayonne headed to West 23rd St. and Church Lane on a report of shots fired.

Police found three spent shell casings.

They learned that a victim was being treated at the Emergency Department at RWJ Barnabas Health-Bayonne, a satellite of Jersey City Medical Center.

Police met up with Joseph Pilovsky, 18, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was listed in stable condition.

Police identified a vehicle they believed was involved in the shooting.

They found it near Route 440 North and 30th Street.

Inside were Quamere Allen, 18, of Bayonne, Jayshawn Smith, 18, of Jersey City, and two 17-year-olds from Jersey City. All four were taken into custody.

Police determined that a juvenile had shot Pilovsky and had left in the same vehicle, but had gone home before police arrived.

Police arrested that teen at his home, and found a loaded firearm there.

Investigators determined that Pilovsky had two loaded guns during the incident and had pointed one toward the vehicle, so he was also charged.

Quamere Allen, 18, of Bayonne, Jayshawn Smith, 18, of Jersey City, two 17-year-old males from Jersey City, and a 17-year-old male from Bayonne were charged with attempted murder and weapons charges.

Pilovsky, of Bayonne, was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and other weapons charges.

Chief Joseph Scerbo said, "The quick response by our patrol officers and the immediate investigative efforts of our Detective Bureau resulted in the rapid identification and apprehension of those involved in the incident, as well as the recovery of the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. This investigation demonstrates the commitment of our officers to holding those responsible for violent acts accountable and removing three illegal firearms from our streets."
