JERSEY CITY, NJ — A sandwich restaurant in downtown Jersey City said last week that it must close temporarily, but they hope to be back soon. They are still catering in the meantime.
"We had to vacate this location temporarily for building repairs, but we will be back!" wrote SubcultureJC on Instagram on Sept. 26.
"We are still open for catering through our website. Thank you for your patience and support. Please follow for updates. We look forward to coming back and serving you!"
They said in the post that city officials told them the building was deemed unsafe due to structural issues.
The family-owned restaurant describes itself as a place "where food and pop culture collide...whether you're a fan of movies, music, sports, or all things pop culture, you're sure to find something to love on our menu."
Nick Roda and William Visnosky founded the spot eight years ago, and Roda's family has been in the restaurant business for decades.
The spot serves up subs, other sandwiches, milkshakes, floats, salads, and Italian-American food - "all made with a dash of fun and nostalgia!"
Patch reached out to Subculture for an update, and will update this story if more information is received.
Meanwhile, watch their social media for updates and ask about catering services at subcultrejc.com, EZCater, or CaterCow, they say.
