Café Opens In New Rental Complex On Jersey City's West Side
Three Thirds Café on Jersey City's west side features local coffee beans, baked goods, and local art and music, and is pet friendly.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — In one of Jersey City's upcoming and still affordable neighborhoods, a new luxury apartment building has risen, and its coffee house opened June 18.
The Three Thirds Café is "a new café with a focus on not only providing the highest-grade coffee and baked goods, but also offering a cool and hip community gathering space ... on Jersey City’s West Side," its handlers say.
Three Thirds Café is situated in ground floor retail space in the 3 Acres luxury rental community located at 400 Claremont Ave.

The West Side of Jersey City is still less expensive than some of the neighborhoods along the waterfront, as it's a bit further out. But it's still accessible from the rest of Jersey City. Besides being across from the light rail, the new building offers a shuttle to the Journal Square PATH/bus station.
The cafe's handlers said that it fosters "a unique vibe created by an emphasis on art and music, Three Thirds Café emanates a laid-back ambiance where west coast surfer culture meets premium East Coast roasting and culinary delights."
It features "local goods with beans sourced from Modcup coffee roasters and baked delights from Baltazhar Bakery," they noted. "There’s a carefully selected music playlist to foster a relaxing atmosphere and local curated art which encourages customers to unwind and appreciate the local culture. The decor inside the pet-friendly café is industrial-driven with lounge couches and a rough-hewn wooden bar."
What about food and drink? "In addition to offering classic caffeine induced beverages like coffee and cappuccino, there are season-specific specialty drinks. The food menu consists largely of breads, pastries scones, muffins, and waffles."
The cafe is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We wanted to create something special for not only the residents of 3 Acres, but also the community-at-large,” said JB Geibel, vice president of Development of 400 Claremont, LLC, which developed 3 Acres. “Of course, that started with securing the talents of Amelia’s Bistro team, well-respected restaurateurs who are well-versed in serving the Jersey City community at its Downtown café. They crafted a theme for a café that would be a casual oasis away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.”
3 Acres will also soon feature The Lobby Bar and Table at 3 Acres restaurant.
Already 600 Apartments Leased
The building's leasing agent says that over 600 apartments at the site have already been leased.
Monthly rents for 3 Acres’ collection of residences currently start from the mid-$1,700s with incentives that include one month free on a 13-month lease. Immediate occupancy is available.
Among the amenities are a state-of-the-art fitness center, infrared saunas, conference room, work pods, a chef’s table with demonstration kitchen, multi-sport simulator and screening room, resident lounge with a saltwater aquarium, and a game room with a mini bowling alley, ping pong, shuffleboard, pinball and arcade games.
On-site musical entertainment emanates from a Steinway Spirio digital grand piano in one of the lounge spaces that self-plays pieces from a vast library of musical content, as well as simulcasts live performances from great pianists around the world.
Outdoors, there's a rooftop terrace with BBQs and dining areas, and a pool with jacuzzi and sundeck, cabanas, and loungers. There’s also a community garden and a dog run.
Located west of downtown Jersey City near the banks of the Hackensack River, 3 Acres is near nightlife options and the 273-acre Lincoln Park.
The building is also a quick drive to the New Jersey Turnpike and Routes 440 and 1 and 9.
