Just because the Five Corners Library is closed, doesn't mean it can't host a party outside.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — After the Five Corners library in Jersey City closed suddenly in July, community leaders said it should reopen.

This week, library organizers announced an event that will be held right outside.

Five Corners organizers posted on social media that a celebration will be held in the parking lot at 678 Newark Ave. this Saturday between noon and 4 p.m.

"Calling all of Five Corners and the Jersey City community!" the post said. "Join us at the Five Corners Branch for an afternoon celebrating the people, cultures, creativity, and connections that make our community special. "

The event will include cultural performances, poetry, music, community activities, library services, food, and more, to "celebrate this beloved neighborhood branch alongside fellow patrons, neighbors, and community members."

The event will include a DJ, followed by the Italian American Writers Association reading poetry, One Accord performing blues, R&B, funk, and soul, and Surati performing Indian dance and music.

"Bring your friends, family, and neighbors, and share your stories with us!" the organizers said. "Your library, your space."

But commenters on social media were confused, saying they thought the library was closed, and asking if it will reopen.
