Driver Charged In Jersey City Crash That Killed Essex County Woman, 21
A 22-year-old man was charged after a crash in Jersey City last week took the life of his passenger, a 21-year-old woman from Bloomfield.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — An Audi driver has been arrested after a fatal Jersey City crash claimed the life of a young Bloomfield woman Labor Day weekend, prosecutors announced Friday.
Gabriel Melo, 22, was arrested on a death by auto charge Thursday, about one week after Daniella Rosario, 21, lost her life, Hudson County prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
Melo, of Newark, was behind the wheel of the Audi when it crashed and flipped on Route 139 about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, prosecutors said.

The three Audi passengers were rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, including the driver, a 23-year-old passenger, and Rosario, prosecutors said.
The tractor trailer, 53, remained at the scene of the crash and was not hurt, police said last week.

Melo was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, prosecutors said.
The Newark driver is slated to appear in court Wednesday.
