HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — As Hudson County swelters in a dangerous heat wave, the county of Hudson sent a message advising residents to look for signs of heat stroke and to check on elderly neighbors, kids, and pets.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service predicted highs in the 90s in Hudson County over the next few days, and a possible "heat index" of 102 Thursday. They predicted a high of 98 for Sunday.

As a result, they have extended their "Heat Advisory" through Sunday at 8 p.m. (See the full forecast here.)

The County of Hudson sent out an email message on Wednesday advising residents of excessive temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.

They advised residents to avoid the heat and potential health complications, and to check on vulnerable populations such as elderly, children, and pets.

They warned of heat cramps, and more, advising residents to "Go to a cooler location. Remove excess clothing. Take sips of cool sports drinks with salt and sugar. Get medical help if cramps last more than an hour."
