The money will held the mother get from Jersey City to the hospital where her daughter is being treated, organizers said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A fundraiser has started for a Jersey City woman and two children who were hit by an 18-wheeler while heading to school last Wednesday.

The woman and two children were crossing the street near the intersection of Ocean and Wilkinson avenues around 8:43 a.m. when the light changed, officials said. An 18-wheeler truck that had stopped mid-block continued, striking the three, said officials.

All three victims were taken to hospitals, according to officials. Police are investigating.

"As her daughter receives treatment at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s Trauma Center, we are raising funds to help cover the transportation costs needed for the mother to travel to and from the hospital during this difficult time,"organizers said. "All donations will be converted into Uber gift cards and provided to P.S. 41 Principal Mrs Rescigo who will be providing to the Wright family."

Parents at P.S. 37, 16, and 17 coordinated the fundraiser, organizers said.

Mayor James Solomon had said Wednesday, “This is a heartbreaking tragedy and my thoughts are with the family and everyone impacted by this incident. As a father, I am heartbroken. At this time, the incident is under investigation by the JCPD, and they will provide more details after completion of the investigation.”
