HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The website "Only in Your State" recently ranked cities and towns by walkability, and four spots in Hudson County prevailed.

Hoboken came out on top in the country, with a score of 97/100, a spokesperson for the website said.

"No other state comes close to Hoboken's walkability score," said a release. "The nearest competitor [outside New Jersey], West Hollywood, Calif., trails by a full six points, the biggest gap between any two states' top cities nationwide."

Union City and West New York tied for second, scoring 94 each and qualifying them to be a "Walker's Paradise" along with Hoboken, the site said.

Jersey City ranked ninth with a score of 84, tying with Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Hoboken is a mile-square city on the Hudson River, directly across the water from Manhattan. Residents and visitors can walk to parks, many restaurants, and the W Hotel. The state also has a train station, two light rail train stations, New York buses running up and down the main drag, and bikes for rent.

Only In Your State analyzed Walk Score data across 2,500 cities, they said.

New York City ranked eighth nationally, the release said.

Jersey City and Hoboken have also ranked high on walkability lists in years past. And SafeStreets also provides scores for local towns.
