3 Hudson, Bergen County Residents In 'Hotel' Business Charged With Theft: Prosecutor
Three residents of Hudson and Bergen Counties have been charged with theft by deception for not performing work, prosecutors said.
NORTH JERSEY, NJ — Three residents of North Jersey were arrested this week on charges of theft by deception, prosecutors said.
Viral Patel, 38, of Jersey City, Priyanka Patel, 33, of Jersey City, and Pratik Patel, 35, of Ramsey were arrested by the prosecutor's Special Investigation Unit and charged with one count of Theft by Deception and with Conspiracy to Commit Theft, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that an investigation determined that the three suspects were hired to perform contract work at a business owner’s three properties in March of 2023.

The business owner received an invoice from Janvi Hotel Supply LLC for approximately $200,000. The invoice was paid but none of the contract work was performed by the three, prosecutors said.
Viral Patel and Priyanka Patel were arrested on Wednesday at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and at a residence in Jersey City, respectively, said prosecutors. They were taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending their first court appearances.
