Japanese Store To Open New Location In Jersey City

A Japanese brand plans to open four stores in the Northeast over the next year, including in Jersey City.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Japanese lifestyle brand Fuji plans to open four new stores in the Northeast, including in Jersey City.

The store will open in the Newport Centre Mall near the Jersey City waterfront early next year, a representative said.

The brand also plans to open in Chestnut Hill, Ma. in fall, White Plains, N.Y., in fall, and Garden City, Long Island next year.

The stores sell a wide range of items, including women's and men's apparel, furniture, storage items, kitchen goods, bath and bedding items, stationery, health and beauty products, travel items, food, and other essentials.

"Bringing these categories together under one roof, MUJI offers thoughtfully designed products for many aspects of
daily life, all grounded in the brand's principles of simplicity, quality and functionality," the company said in an announcement.

Founded in Japan in 1980, MUJI has grown into a global lifestyle brand.

"We are excited about the continued growth of MUJI in the United States and the opportunity to bring
MUJI to more customers,” said Richard Rappaport, president of MUJI USA.

The Newport Centre Mall is located at 30 Mall Drive West in Jersey City, and is accessible to the Newport PATH train station to Manhattan and light rail along the Hudson County waterfront. The store is also walkable to the Hoboken border.
