Jersey City Fire Official Becomes Deputy Public Safety Director
Jersey City's new mayor has appointed an acting deputy public safety director.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City fire official will help oversee the city's police, fire, and other public safety operations.
Mayor James Solomon announced the appointment on Friday of Jersey City Fire Department Deputy Chief Loren M. Hart as acting deputy public safety director.
Hart will serve under Acting Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

Hart is a lifelong Jersey City resident with 23 years in the Jersey City Fire Department.
Hart was promoted to deputy fire chief in 2022. In the spot, he provides oversight of daily department operations, personnel, and emergency readiness across multiple battalions.

Jersey City has, in the past, seen declining crime numbers, but also grappled with its 911 system. Solomon has said he will address both issues.
In January, Solomon announced the hiring of 30 new police officers and the reestablishment of the Traffic Enforcement Division.
