Jersey City Man Accused Of Trying To Rob Person At Knifepoint
The 36-year-old man is facing charges after police said he tried to rob a person at knifepoint in Bayonne.

BAYONNE, NJ — A Jersey City man is facing charges after authorities said he tried to rob a person at knifepoint before attempting to flee on a NJ Transit bus, according to police.
Matthew Brewer, 26, was charged with attempted robbery, robbery, hindering apprehension, unlawful possession of a weapon and other counts following the Tuesday incident that occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. near Avenue C and 14th Street in Bayonne.
According to police, officers responded to the area after receiving a call about a suspicious person aboard a NJ Transit bus. When officers arrived, they located the victim, who authorities said told police that Brewer asked him for money. When the victim wouldn't comply, police said Brewer pulled out a knife and demanded money again.

Brewer was located on the bus and arrested, police said. While he was being processed, authorities said Brewer refused to provide officers with his information. A box cutter was also found on his person, police said.
No injuries were reported. Brewer was taken to the Hudson County jail for processing, police said.
