Jersey City Man Who Robbed NJ Best Buy Sentenced To Prison
Prosecutors said Michael Guirguis threatened employees with a knife while stealing multiple iPads and iPhones from the Morris County store.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after prosecutors said he threatened employees with a knife and stole multiple iPads and iPhones from a Best Buy in Morris County.
Michael Guirguis, 39, was sentenced this week after a jury found him guilty of first-degree robbery, shoplifting and weapons charges in connection with the May 2022 incident.
According to prosecutors, Guirguis went to Best Buy on Route 10 and removed several iPads and iPhones from a display table. As he tried to leave the store, he threatened an asset protection employee with a knife and also brandished the weapon at a second person after leaving the store.

Prosecutors said police were called to the store and arrested Guirguis after they found him in the parking lot still holding the knife and stolen items.
Authorities said the value of the stolen merchandise totaled $4,500.

Guirguis was being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending sentencing.
