Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Woman In Jersey City: Prosecutor

A man was charged with raping a woman in Jersey City whom he'd met hours earlier, prosecutors said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 31-year-old Brooklyn man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Jersey City whom he had met hours earlier, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Raul Pena, 31, was arrested Thursday and charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault, prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said that on Sunday, Aug. 20, a 29-year-old woman met Pena "through an acquaintance in the hours leading up to the assault."

The assault took place at a residence in Jersey City, prosecutors said. But they did not say if it was the victim's home or where she lives.

Pena was arrested at his residence with the assistance of the NYPD Special Victims Unit, prosecutors said.

He is being detained at Brooklyn Central Booking pending extradition to New Jersey, prosecutors said.
