Son Convicted Of Mother's Murder In Hudson County: Prosecutor

A man was convicted on Monday of the murder of his mother in a home in Hudson County, prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A jury convicted a man of first-degree murder on Monday in the death of his mother in West New York in 2021.

Emmanuel Gonzalez, 37, of West New York, was found guilty of killing Irma Gonzalez, 62, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Jan. 14, 2021, around 1:30 p.m., police responded to a home on 439 66th St. in West New York, on a report of an unresponsive woman. They were met by Emmanuel Gonzalez and directed to a bedroom.

They found Irma Gonzalez unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and manner to be homicide.

Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for April 11.
