Man Hit By Car At Hudson County Park Has Died, Prosecutors Say

The man, from Kearny, and a second man were walking in the Hudson County park when they were hit, prosecutors said.

HARRISON, NJ — A man who was hit by a car as he was walking at a park in Harrison last week has died, prosecutors said Friday.

Gary Gross, 58, of Kearny, died of his injuries at University Hospital in Newark Thursday night, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

A 48-year-old Kearny man who was with him and also was hit remains hospitalized and was listed as stable, prosecutors said Friday.

Gross and the second man were walking on Woodland Drive in West Hudson Park about 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 when they were hit and seriously injured, prosecutors have said. The driver, who has not been identified, remained at the scene, prosecutors said.

A spokesperson did not respond to questions about potential charges for the driver, but said the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating.
