Missing New Jersey Teen From Kearny Found Dead

The remains of a 14-year-old boy who was reported missing have been found, police said.

A 14-year-old New Jersey boy who was reported missing was found dead on Tuesday, police said.

On Tuesday, the Kearny Police Department was notified by New Jersey’s Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Newark that the remains of Angel Gonzalez were found, police said.

"It is with great sadness that the Kearny Police Department releases the following statement regarding 14-year-old missing juvenile Angel Gonzalez," the police department said on Facebook.

Preliminary information indicates that Angel was foundin Newark, and was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he died. The cause and manner of Angel’s death are pending an investigation by the regional medical examiner’s office, police said.

The police department advises the community that this appears to be an isolated event and there is no danger to the community at-large.

"The police department extends its deepest condolences to Angel’s family and friends in this most difficult time. The Kearny School District advises that they will have grief counselors available tomorrow for students at Franklin, Lincoln, and Kearny High Schools," the department said.

Angel was reported missing by his family on October 9, 2017. The Kearny Police had requested that anybody with information on his whereabouts should contact the police department at (201)998-1313 or by email at tips@kearnynjpd.org.

Angel was described as 5'6", 140 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and light brown skin complexion. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black Nike sneakers. Newark and New York City have been reported as Angel's possible destinations.
