NJ Man, 28, Fatally Stabbed In Jersey City: Police

No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing, police said. Here's the latest.

JERSEY CITY, NJ - A 28-year-old New Jersey man was fatally stabbed on Sunday afternoon in Jersey City, authorities said.

Jawon Purcell, 28, of Jersey City, was found with multiple stab wounds in the 110 block of Bostwick Avenue around 1:53 p.m. after a report of a fight in the area, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 2:03 p.m. The cause of death is pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning.
