After Police Car Hits Jogger In Jersey City, Hudson County Is Investigating
A marked police car with its sirens on hit a jogger in Jersey City on Tuesday. Hudson County is investigating.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is probing a crash in which a Jersey City police car hit a jogger on Tuesday afternoon.
At about 4:41 p.m. on Tuesday, a Jersey City Police Officer reported having hit a pedestrian who was jogging in the area of Jersey Avenue and Aetna Street while the officer was responding to a call, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
The jogger, a 44-year-old Jersey City man, was taken to Jersey City Medical Center to be treated for a serious, but not life threatening, injury to a lower extremity, prosecutors said.

A preliminary investigation completed on Wednesday by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit determined the patrol car, a Ford Crown Victoria, was driving south on Jersey Avenue with lights and sirens activated when the jogger was hit. Two Jersey City Police Officers were inside the car at the time.
The investigation is ongoing.
