Hudsn County Sheriff's Officer Charged With Possession Of Child Sex Abuse Material

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Hudson County Sheriff's Officer was charged Thursday with possession of child sex abuse material following a months-long investigation, prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office charged William Medina, 35, of Union City, with one count of third-degree Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material "following a months-long investigation into child sex abuse material being stored on an online file storage server," they said Thursday.

Medina was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 2023, prosecutors said.

Medina has been placed on administrative leave and is currently suspended without pay, said Hudson County Sheriff Frank X. Schillari.

“These allegations are serious and certainly do not reflect the values of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office,” said Schillari. “My Office and its Internal Affairs Unit has, and will continue to, fully cooperate with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office throughout the course of prosecution.”

County Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Internal Affairs Unit, Cyber Crimes Unit, and Crime Scene Unit with the arrest and investigation.
