SUEZ To Shut Off Water On Fairview Ave. Friday Night For Repairs

The affected area is between Kennedy Boulevard and Bergen Avenue. The shutoff is expected to last between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

JERSEY CITY, NJ —SUEZ has announced that on Friday night a contractor will be shutting off water service for approximately four hours on Fairview Avenue, between Kennedy Boulevard and Bergen Avenue, in order to complete repairs.

The shutdown, according to SUEZ, will begin at 10 p.m. and last until approximately 2 a.m. Saturday morning. The company said residents in the buildings affected by the shutdown have been notified.

"We apologize for this inconvenience while we work to serve you better," SUEZ said in a statement.

To minimize the inconvenience, SUEZ offered these recommendations to residents whose water will be shut off:

  • Fill containers with water to use while your service is shut off.
  • Be sure your faucets are not running. This will help prevent possible water damage.
  • Check your plumbing fixtures and your water meter to make sure that there is no leakage after service is restored.
