Teacher In Hudson County Charged For Sexual Contact With Student
A teacher at a Hudson County school was charged Friday with criminal sexual contact with a student, the Prosecutor's Office said.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A teacher in Jersey City has been charged with criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with "inappropriate contact with a juvenile student," prosecutors said.
Steven Gordon, 67, of Jersey City, was arrested Friday for a crime that had occurred Wednesday, May 29 during school hours, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
Gordon was a teacher at University Academy Charter High School, a grades 9-12 public charter school on West Side Avenue in Jersey City. He resigned due to the investigation, prosecutors said.

On Friday, June 14, 2024, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Gordon at the Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and second-degree endangering the welfare.
He has been released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2024, prosecutors said.
