Police Identify Teen Boy Killed In Hit-And-Run In Jersey City, Driver Sought

More details were revealed as a search is underway for a driver who struck and killed a teenage boy on Wednesday while injuring another.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 15-year-old boy has been identified while a search continues for a driver who struck and killed the teen in Jersey City on Wednesday. One other boy was seriously injured.

Two boys were hit just after 2:30 p.m. on Terrace Avenue near Secaucus Road in Jersey City while they were riding a bike. The 15-year-old was killed, police said.

Elionel Jimenez died in the crash, according to ABC7, while the other boy, Alex Rojas, was seriously injured and was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, police said.

Two passengers in the car have been apprehended, but the driver is still at large. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jersey City Police Department.

Jimenez's mother, Esperanta, told ABC7 he was a good kid and very respectful, saying she cares for him very much."We need to find this person and he needs to take responsibility for what he did," she said.
