Woman Seriously Injured When Crossing Between Cars In Jersey City: Prosecutor

The prosecutor's office said that the woman, 67, was crossing between two cars stopped at an intersection but the one behind her struck her.

JERSEY CITY, NJ —Prosecutors said that a 67-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was struck by a car near a Jersey City intersection.

Prosecutors say that at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck near the intersection of John F. Kennedy Blvd. and Montgomery Street. Officers found a woman with a "serious injury to the lower extremity," prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit determined that she was crossing between two stopped vehicles, but the rear vehicle accelerated and struck her, prosecutors said.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.

The woman was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. As of Thursday morning, she is in stable condition, prosecutors said.
