Jersey City Medical Center Hosts Women's Heart Health Event: "What You Need to Know"

Jersey City, NJ – Jersey City Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health hospital, will host a Heart and VJersey City, NJ – Jersey City Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, will host a panel discussion titled “Women's Heart Health: What You Need to Know” on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Museum at Jersey City Medical Center, located at 350 Montgomery Street in Jersey City. The event will be held in the First Floor Auditorium.
This informative and interactive discussion will raise awareness about heart health among women and provide valuable insights from leading experts in the field. Dr. Kimberly A. Skelding, Division Chief of Cardiovascular Services and Interventional Cardiologist, will moderate the panel discussion. Dr. Skelding, a highly respected cardiologist at Jersey City Medical Center with over 20 years of experience, specializes in structural heart disease, women's heart health, and clinical research. She is dedicated to educating patients about their heart health and promoting shared decision-making to achieve the best outcomes. Actively involved in the cardiology community both nationally and internationally, Dr. Skelding ensures her patients receive guideline-driven, cutting-edge care.
"Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, and many women are unaware of the risks, signs, and symptoms. Our goal is to educate and empower women to take charge of their heart health. It is important for women of all ages to be aware of the risks, signs, and symptoms and take proactive steps to protect their heart health. This program offers an excellent opportunity for women to learn more about heart health and the most advanced, world-class cardiovascular care available in Hudson County," said Dr. Kimberly Skelding, Division Chief of Cardiovascular Services at Jersey City Medical Center.

The event will feature a panel of distinguished physicians, including Eman Rashed, MD, PhD, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist; Mary Abed, MD, Executive Vice Chair for Strategic Operations, Department of Medicine and Cardiologist; Yekaterina Kim, MD, Non-Invasive Cardiologist; and Kristin Carlino, MS, RDN, CSOWM, Registered Dietitian. They will share their expertise on preventing, diagnosing, and treating heart disease in women.
Dr. Skelding emphasized the importance of heart health for women, stating, "Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, and it's crucial for women to be aware of the risks, signs, symptoms, and take proactive steps to protect their heart health. This event provides an excellent opportunity for women to learn more about heart health and the latest advancements in cardiovascular care."
