2 Longtime Lacey Police Officers Get Promoted
Sergeants John McKee and Darrell Nick finished best in the state on the New Jersey Civil Service Sergeant Promotional Exam last year.
LACEY, NJ — Two veteran Lacey police officers were promoted Thursday to sergeant. John McKee and Darrell Nick replace the recent retirements of command level officers.
McKee and Nick finished Nos. 1 and 2 in the state on the New Jersey Civil Service Sergeant Promotional Exam last year. Approximately 950 officers were tested.
McKee has lived in Lacey the last 20 years. He graduated from Leonia High School in 1986 and attended Stockton University, where he studied Business Administration.

The Lacey Township Police Department hired McKee in March 2003. He attended the Burlington County Police Academy and finished top of his class in academics. He has been assigned as a patrol squad supervisor.
"In Sergeant McKee's own words, his greatest accomplishment and what brings joy to his life are his three children, Brittany, Alexa and Jack," said Chief Michael C. DiBella.

Nick grew up in Lacey and graduated from Lacey Township High School in 1997. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Monmouth University in 2001. He played college football all four years, becoming an All-American as a senior and trying out for the NFL.
He was hired in March 2003 and attended the Burlington County Police Academy. He has been assigned to the Patrol Division for the past 17 years, including 11 as a field training officer. He has been married to his wife, Denise, for 10 years.
"Like all of our officers," DiBella said, "they are committed and dedicated to protecting the residents and visitors of Lacey Township and we could not be more proud of them."
