$20K Check Stolen During Burglary: Lacey Police Blotter
A DWI arrest included a charge of having an open container, police said, and another person reported $1,000 stolen using their debit card.

LACEY, NJ — A stolen $20,000 check; theft of $1,000 via a debit card, and a drunken driving charge leveled with against a motorist who allegedly had an open container of alcohol are among the incidents in the Lacey Township Police blotter for last week.
Police Chief Michael DiBella said the following reports were taken:
NOV. 15: Officer Michael Verwey responded to the 400 block of Stony Point Drive in the Forked River section at 8:59 a.m. for a report of a theft. The victim said a Vizio laptop valued at $1,500 and a check for $20,000 were missing. The incident remains under investigation.

NOV. 13: Officer John McKee responded to 200 block of Plover Court in Lanoka Harbor at 1:48 p.m. for a report of identity theft. A woman reported she received a letter in the mail from Home Depot that stated her late husband has been denied for a credit card application. The letter also stated that they were unable to verify identity information. A second letter from Best Buy addressed to her late husband said he had been approved for a credit card through Citibank for $5,000. She contacted Citibank, which cancelled the account. The incident remains under investigation.
NOV. 13: Officer Michael Hein took a fraud report at 12:18 p.m. from a man who said his mother-in-law had been a victim of several fraudulent transactions on her debit card. The man told Hein he noticed several transactions on victim’s debit card statement on Oct. 28, each for $100 that were completed at the ATM machine in the Wawa at 701 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor. The fraudulent transactions totalled $1,000. The man had reported the incidents to Merrill Lynch, which canceled the Visa debit card. The incident remains under investigation.

NOV. 12: Officer Jesse Dalziel was patrolling the Walmart parking lot in Lanoka Harbor at 3:58 a.m. when he saw a suspicious vehicle. Dalziel's investigation led to the arrest of William D. Perkins, 56, of Alpine Street in Forked River, on charges of possession of heroin and possession of a hypodermic syringe. After processing, he was released with criminal summonses.
NOV. 11: Officer Andrew Slota took a report of criminal mischief at 9:38 a.m. on the 200 block of Dogwood Lane, Forked River. The victim said he had just noticed a large dent on the hood and passenger-side front fender of his vehicle. The victim said his vehicle had been parked at Home Depot between 11:30 a.m. and noon on Nov. 10, and in the parking lot of Anytime Fitness shortly thereafter, and then in his driveway. The damage is estimated at about $1,000.
NOV. 10: Officer Jason Lee saw multiple vehicles pulling around a vehicle that was stopped in the road near the intersection of Route 9 and Sunrise Boulevard in Forked River at 4:15 p.m.. Lee investigated and arrested Alfred Mathieu, 51, of Bobwhite Court in Forked River and charged him with driving under the influence. Mathieu received summonses for DWI, reckless driving, impeding the flow of traffic, and open container. The vehicle he was driving was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
NOV. 10: Officer Andrew Slota took a criminal mischief report on the 1800 block of Serpentine Drive in Forked River at 3 p.m. The man said the screens were cut out and removed from two rear windows in the house where he lives sometime between Nov. 6 and Nov. 10. The man said he had last been at the house Nov. 6 and did not see any damage. The estimated cost of the damage is $300.
