Call Threatened Violence At Lacey Township High School, Prosecutor Says

LACEY, NJ — A shelter-in-place was lifted Tuesday at Lacey Township High School after police found there was no threat to the school or the public.

"Officers from the Lacey Township Police Department will remain present around our schools today," police said.

A phone call to the police threatened violence at the high school, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

The school was placed in "secure" early Tuesday, meaning all doors were locked and no one could enter or leave the building, Principal Jason King said. That was lifted shortly after 10 a.m.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Lacey Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office are working toward identifying the individual or individuals responsible for making the threat in question.
